In a St. Joseph Health Scene Report, if you want to enhance a pre-term infant's development, researchers say show your love. Scientists examined preemies born before 30 weeks or with low birth weights. They found sensitive, positive caregiving increased a baby's cognitive, social and emotional development in the first two years of their lives. The caregiving includes being in sync with the baby by smiling, laughing and making eye contact.
