In a St. Joseph Health Scene report, the concept of better late than never may not apply when it comes to reopening blocked arteries. A new study found when doctors try to use stents to prop open a closed artery days after an untreated heart attack, patients didn't see any significant benefit. In fact, those patients didn't do any better long-term than those who received non-surgical treatment like drugs.
