Men should get tested for the disease if they are experiencing urinary tract problems and especially if there's a family history of the disease.
Dr. Erin Fleener with the Cancer Clinic says, "There is one gene that's carried in breast and ovarian cancer patients patents known as the BRCA Gene. This is also thought to predispose men to prostate cancer so men that have a family history with a lot of breast and ovarian cancer need to be a little bit more concerned about family history and then any man who has a male relative; father or brother not necessarily grandparents who have been diagnosed in their late eighties and nineties, but any man who has a first degree relative with prostate cancer needs to be screened more readily and be more aware."
Other symptoms to watch out for include: Excessive Urination At Night, Incontinence, Bone Pain or Tenderness, Blood in the Urine, Abdominal pain, Anemia, Unintentional Weight Loss, and you may begin feeling Lethargic.
Most importantly, if you're a man over 50 whose never been screened and has a family history, it's a good idea to contact your doctor to schedule an appointment to make sure you do you're doing your part to stay healthy.
