On Wednesday, August 22, 2012 a blood drive benefiting The Blood Center Brazos Valley was held at Hillier Funeral, Cremation & Bereavement Specialists.

Donors were invited from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to Hillier Funeral Home. Refreshments including cookies, sliders, popcorn and drinks were available. Donors also received a free pint of Blue Bell ice cream and a discount coupon to Leaf & Bloom (floral department at Village Foods).

The event was organized by Mark Wright, funeral director at Hillier Funeral Home and was co-hosted by First Victoria Bank and Village Foods.

Donating more than expected, a total of 19 units were given which in turn helped to save 57 lives.
