Obesity Rates Down Among Two to Five Year Old Children

There's some good news in the fight against childhood obesity.
Numbers released last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show an improvement in obesity rates among two to five year olds.

The prevalence for this age group dropped from nearly 14-percent in 2003-2004 to just more than eight percent in 2011-2012.

They don't see or cite an exact reason for the decline but health experts the Texas A&M Health Science Center have been involved in numerous prevention initiatives that may have help with that decline.

Dr. Marcia Ory with the School of Rural Public Health at the Texas A&M Health Science Center was on First News at Four Tuesday to talk about their studies on childhood obesity.
