Texas Gov. Rick Perry says the federal government must reduce spending, and as part of that, he'd like it to leave health care up to the states.

Perry spoke Sunday morning on CNN's "State of the Nation." He says that while people say initially that everyone should have health care coverage, they reconsider that position once they realize how much it will cost.

Perry also says governors like himself and Minnesota Gov. Tim
Pawlenty have good ideas for providing health care for their
states' residents and each state should be able to come up with its
own plan instead of a one-size-fits-all federal program.

Perry says states would be able to afford health care too if they kept more of the tax money that now goes to the federal government.
