COLLEGE STATION The newest hospital in the Brazos Valley is open for business. The Scott & White Hospital in College Station had it's first patient sign-in at 5:16 Monday morning.
The hospital's CEO, Jason Jennings, said that Monday was a lot like the first game of a football season. The doctors, nurses and staff have been training and working hard all summer to get the hospital ready for this day.
On its first day, the hospital will have at least four births. The first was scheduled for early Monday morning. Two heart procedures will be performed in their Cath Lab and they are going "live" with their new electronic medical records system called EPIC.
Brazos Valley This Morning was live from the hospital Monday morning and spoke with Jason Jennings, as well as Dr. Dan Ransom, the hospitals Chief of Staff. They said there are over 100 surgeries scheduled in the first two weeks of operation.
