The only thing you seem to have on your mind is the pain. It does not allow you to think in terms of what is best for your family and what is the best decision to make because you are constantly anchored with this pain.
This unfortunately could spiral to the point where you are thinking about the pain, the pain causes depression, and depression causes more pain. Try to break that cycle, try to control the depression, try to control the pain. So as to bring the patient to the point where they can have a better lifestyle, they can provide for their families and go back to work.
Not necessarily pain free but sometimes a patient might reach that goal. But we could lower that degree of pain to make the patient more functional and have a better life.
