Now days, instead of ladies having to have a hysterectomy, they can be treated with something that is called Endometrial Ablation. It is a procedure that has been around since the 1980’s. It has recently had a jump in it’s simplicity and effectiveness. It can be done in the office. There is a one day recovery and it leaves the patient basically having almost zero menstrual bleeding, or at the most, a minimal menstrual cycle.
An additional advancement in Gynological surgery that has taken place over time is for the treatment of stress incontinence. What I mean by that is when who would cough or sneeze and loose urine, even in small amounts, to a point where it would become embarrassing.
Up until this point in time the options have been limited, the surgeries have been of only medium success. Now days we have a procedure called a TVT Sling. It is a four hour hospitalization. The procedure itself takes about thirty minutes, it has a ninety percent success rate, and a three or four day recovery.
