Dr. Tripathy discusses Colon Cancer.
Colon cancer is an equal problem in both men and women. There is not a preference for one sex or the other. You can drop the cycle for cancer by doing a Colonoscopy.
An average risk individual should have a Colonoscopy at age fifty. If it is totally normal, than it should be done every ten years.
If there are abnormalities like polyps and things like that, it may have to be repeated sooner. Persons with higher risk, like with a strong family history, should have it done sooner than the age fifty. Persons who are known to have Familial Polyposis Syndrome need to start at a younger age.
