Dr. Kumud Tripathy - Moles and Skin Cancer

In today’s Brazos Valley Physicians Organization Journal of Medicine report Dr Kumud Tripathy discusses moles and skin cancer.

"The ABC's of moles are first asymmetric. So if the mole is asymmetrical, then you need to get concerned about it.

The other is B, it stands for border. Usually the border is not quite regular for benign moles, but if the border is irregular that is another reason for concern.

C is for color. Usually moles kind of have a uniform color but if the color is varied like one part of the mole is bluish, the other reddish, the other part a different color, that’s another sign to be concerned about.

And D stands for diameter. Diameter is more than the size of a pencil eraser. Like one fourth of an inch is the size of a small pencil eraser. If it’s bigger than that, those are the things that should concern because and sort of trigger a visit to a doctor."

The Brazos Valley Physicians Organization is a group of independent physicians who are determined to preserve the choice and sanctity of the patient physician relationship. Our vision is that the patient always comes first.
