In today’s Brazos Valley Physicians Organization Journal of Medicine report Dr Kumud Tripathy discusses lung cancer.
"Lung cancer is quite common in both men and women. Of course, for the most part it is related to smoking. So the easiest way to tackle lung cancer is not to smoke. The next step is earlier detection. As of now most of the lung cancer cases that are diagnosed, less than half of those patients live more than five years because they are often diagnosed late. We don’t really have a screening for lung cancer.
There have been a few studies lately indicating that doing a screening by cat-scan might be helpful. But the problem there is that you find abnormal areas that may not be cancer."
The Brazos Valley Physicians Organization is a group of independent physicians who are determined to preserve the choice and sanctity of the patient physician relationship. Our vision is that the patient always comes first.
