In the Brazos Valley Physicians' Organization Journal of Medicine Report, Dr. Marcy Halterman discusses the importance of vitamin D.
"Why vitamin D is important especially as a chiropractor is because we deal a lot with pain and the situation with how a person’s bones, the condition that they’re in and a lot of times if people are deficient in vitamin D they will actually feel more pain too.
I’ve had some patients that are really super deficient in D they’re been on pain medications for sometimes years and just bringing their D levels up to a good optimum level can make a big difference in their pain, how their bone structure is. A lot of people when they get their vitamin D levels done I’ve noticed they’ll be told that they’re D levels are in the adequate range and the adequate range is actually thirty to a hundred for most labs, but the problem is a lot of people hover right around that thirty and that’s the low end of the range and that’s not a real optimal range to be in.
A really optimal range has been shown to be right around sixty to seventy so it’s right in the middle so it’s really important for people when they get their vitamin D levels run to ask what is the number.
