In today's Brazos Valley Physicians Organization Journals and Medicine report Dr. Nancy Leslie talks about traumatic brain injury.
Most people when they are asked will report having had a concussion at some point in their life. Living here in Bryan / College Station sports is such a major part of this community. Sports is one of the common ways people experience concussions or even more serious brain injuries. When we do neurocognitive rehabilitation, what we are trying to do is give the brain specific exercises to regain those skills. So if we determine that someone is thinking slowly, they are accurate, but their speed is so slow, that it impairs everything they are doing. We then we use different exercises, cognitive exercises, to increase the speed and efficiency of their thinking. Fortunately with people with brain injuries they recover from month to month to year to year.
