Leon Bradway - Mechanical Neck Pain

In this week’s Brazos Valley Physician’s Organization Journal of Medicine Report, Leon Bradway discusses Mechanical Neck Pain.

Mechanical neck pain deals with the neck itself. It can about through a lot of individual things. For example, a job related scenario where you’re turning your head, you’re bending your head a lot, you’re looking right to left a lot, or you’re lifting a lot of weights.

To diagnose neck pain, definitely requires skill of looking at movements of the neck, looking at the patients or the individuals posture ; alignments, whether in the back or how their neck is, because a lot of things that we do today requires sitting, and sitting requires more than what we used to is a lot of computer work where we get this slouched position. We’re forward, our head comes forward, and so when you do that for long periods of time, that changes the posture in our back, and that changes the posture in our neck.

If you try to tough it out, the consequences can be this, is that you can guard and then be able to create other problems, or other muscle structures to be involved, and then that can compound and make the problem worse to where it takes longer to get it to heal and that’s what you don’t want.

The Brazos Valley Physician’s Organization is a group of independent physicians who are determined to preserve the choice and the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship. Our vision is that the patient always comes first.
