Find out what's lurking behind the kitchen door of your favorite restaurant. How do they fair under the watchful eye of the Brazos County Health Department? KBTX continues to look at which Brazos Valley restaurants are making the grade and which ones aren't.
Here's what inspectors found for the week of September 2:
Inspectors began their sweep at Junek's Barbeque Grill in Wellborn, where a beetle was found in the sugar and a microwave needed cleaning. It scored a 76.
Dusty air vents and an employee not using soap to wash their hands cost Taqueria Restaurant El Sol De Mexico some points. The North Texas Avenue eatery in Bryan scores an 81.
Pei Wei Asian Diner on University Drive scored an 88 after being docked for chicken and beef at the wrong temperature, two gnats in the kitchen and a dirty can opener.
While Shipley's on Villa Maria in Bryan gets a 89 for kolaches not hot enough and hand sanitizer stored on the ice machine.
It's a 91 for Subway on Villa Maria for no towels at the hand sink and a cracked ice scoop.
And after having a few problems last month, Waldenbrooke Estates brings home a perfect score of 100.
