First Phase of Kyle Field To Be Ready For Game Day

COLLEGE STATION- Phase one of the $450 million dollar Kyle Field expansion at Texas A&M is almost complete with just 25 days to go before the first home game. Today A&M officials held a news conference to say it will be ready.

The grass is in, the video board is up and running and the temporary sound system has been installed. Craig Kaufman with Populous says "It's good to just see all these things. You just start clicking off the list getting ready closer and closer to game day."

The first phase of renovations is nearly complete and on schedule giving Head Coach Kevin Sumlin three days of football practice at Kyle.
"Because the work of these contractors, he will have three days of practice he wasn't counting on, " says Chancellor John Sharp. He says their new partnership with technology giant, IBM, will prove to be both exciting and challenging when it comes to the use of cell phones and other electronic devices. "We have an old system on the west side communicating with the new system on the west side And we have over 31 thousand of the most connected students in the country gobbling up bandwidth at increasing rates. The team at IBM will strive to make this a positive experience for all. "

A new 'Destination Aggieland app' for I-phones and Android devices is now available for download. It provides game day information for shuttle and parking as well as a seating chart to help you find your stadium seats. The app will also provide links to the official game day forecast from our meteorologists in the KBTX Pinpoint Weather Center.
