Local Kids Take Part in National Lemonade Day

Good to Know:

  • National Lemonade Day started in Houston in 2007.
  • The National website says the event grew from 2,700 kids in the beginning to more than 200,000 now.

COLLEGE STATION - If you had a chance to step outside and enjoy this beautiful weather, you probably noticed a bunch of lemonade stands.

It's national lemonade day and these young entrepreneurs joined the national initiative that started in Houston back in 2007. The mission is to to empower youth to take ownership of their lives and become productive members of society.

We caught up with the group at Aggieland Outfitters on University drive in college station and they gave News Three's Kessler McLaughlin an earful about what goes into making this event possible

The National Lemonade Day website says each child that registers receives a backpack with an Entrepreneur Workbook that teaches them basic business lessons. They keep all the money they make and are encouraged to spend some, save some and share some.
