Over the last few days the News 3 newsroom has been taking calls from Texas A&M sorority girls concerned about a local personal trainer passing out unknown pills. These actions sparked an investigation by College Station Police and Greek Life.

"I went and picked up my friend from her sorority house and she offered one these pills to me and I checked out the package and it is completely unlabeled," said Brianna Peters, Texas A&M student.

The packets were passed out by Trevor Carney of Innovative Fitness in College Station.

"She said 'he's telling us it's a dietary supplement and its all herbal'," said Peters. "So is Ephedra and marijuana, so you definitely shouldn't be taking that."

In a statement, Innovative Fitness said the pills are full of vitamins, amino acids and have about as much caffeine as a coke.

"Several of the other houses say he's been visiting doing this exact same thing," said Peters.

"Next week, we will have more than 800 girls on sorority row, going through recruitment so our first and primary concern is the safety of the women," said Nick Zuniga, Department of Greek Life, Texas A&M University.

The office of Greek Life investigated the situation after speaking to News 3. They say Carney received permission from several sorority houses to do a presentation about fitness boot camps and nutrition.

"We always find it interesting when any group selects Greek members as their target audience," said Zuniga.

Through email messages, Innovative Fitness says their demographic consists of females ages 12-70 years of age. And sororities are also a captive audience.

Still College Station Police emphasize using caution.

"The pill that you gave me with the information that's attached is a common dietary supplement, said Rhonda Seaton. "I would not ever suggest that anybody take a sample pill that they've received from somebody they don't know."

Trevor Carney is a known and reputable trainer in Bryan-College Station. He helped train News 3's Shane McAuliffe in 2009.

But as one police officer told News 3, Trevor may be reputable, but handing out unmarked supplements to college students may not be the smartest thing to do.
