Nelson to be given first 'Bridging Divides' award
AUSTIN (AP) - Country music icon Willie Nelson's latest award recognizes him as an ambassador for peace.
The entertainer will be honored October 19th at the University of Texas with the inaugural "Bridging Divides" award for aiding peaceful conflict resolution.
The award for Nelson was announced by the UT/Austin Project on Conflict Resolution.
It's one of many honors for the Texas native, whose hits include "On the Road Again," "Always on My Mind" and "Whiskey River."
Guest artist Amy Nelson will sing a song she wrote with her father.
