Early Morning Accident Sends Motorcycle Driver to the Hospital

A motorcycle driver is at Scott and White Hospital in Temple after surviving a two vehicle collision early Friday morning.

College Station police say just before 4:30 a.m. Friday, a Chevrolet Tracker was eastbound on Harvey Mitchell Parkway. The driver was attempting to turn north onto Southwood Drive when the vehicle collided with a westbound motorcycle.

Authorities say it is not clear at this time if the driver of the Tracker failed to yield the right of way turning left on a green light, or if the driver of the motorcycle ignored a red light.

The driver of the Tracker, 20-year-old Christina Hoffart of Houston, suffered minor injuries, but refused to be transported to the hospital.

The motorcycle driver, 34-year-old Joseph Lacaze of Caldwell, is badly injured at Scott and White in Temple, but authorities do expect him to survive.

The investigation continues.
