*Update*
A woman attempts to put out a grease fire, but is left with severe burns Tuesday night.

She was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas after a quick response by a PHI Air Ambulance crew.

38-year-old Tami Gallagher is now home from the hospital after she was burned during a grease fire. The fire occurred at her home in the 7600 block of Kurten Cemetery Road in Brazos County.

A PHI air ambulance was called in to transport Gallagher to the hospital as a precaution around 8 P.M. Tuesday.

"I understand she has some burns to her arms from where she attempted to carry the pan of grease that was on fire," District 2 Volunteer Fire Chief Merrie Noak said. " [She] attempted to carry it out of the residence and sustained some burns to her arms from that."

Noak tells News 3 Gallagher initially tried to put water on the grease fire which made it worse.

"The resident did attempt to put some water on the fire which just spread it more,” she said. “They tried flour as well which wasn't successful we recommend put a pan on it, do not use water."

Gallagher appeared conscious and alert after the accident as she was being transported to the helicopter.

The house received minor damage but we're told the family can still live there.

A family friend tells us Gallagher's baby and young daughter were also in the home at the time of the fire, but were not injured.

Gallagher returned home from the hospital Wednesday morning after undergoing minor surgery in Dallas.

She suffered severe burns to her hands and was also burned on her arms and legs.

This has been a really bad couple of weeks for fires here in BCS. I am going to Lowe's and buy new fire dectectors. This serves as a reminder to all of us to practice good safety.

I am glad the lady is ok. It is hard to keep your cool and calmly think when you get a roaring fire on the stove.
