COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M's offense was one of the
most potent in the country last year, but the Aggies finished with
a losing record with a defense that was among the nation's worst.

The Aggies have a new defensive coordinator in Tim DeRuyter.
They've scrapped the 4-3 defense for his 3-4 scheme which they'll
unveil in Saturday's opener against Stephen F. Austin.

DeRuyter is ready to see how the group, anchored by last
season's national sack leader Von Miller, stacks up against someone
besides A&M's offense. The coordinator says his unit has to play
fast and force turnovers to be successful this season.

DeRuyter says Stephen F. Austin's offense, led by quarterback
Jeremy Moses, reminds him of preparing for Houston and Case Keenum
while at Air Force last season.

To Richard- The 3-4 is the defense that Slocum used in his tenure at A&M. I kept saying all along that they should've kept the 3-4 instead of the 4-3.
