A six-month old baby girl was killed when a van carrying a family lost control on Interstate 35 in central Texas and flipped over, injuring 13 others.

Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lisa Block says the accident happened around 2 a.m. north of Hillsboro.

Block says troopers think a tire blowout caused the van to lose
control.

The girl who died has been identified as Evelyn Kate Garcia.

Block says the van was pulling a trailer and the passengers told
authorities they were traveling from Dallas to Nuevo Laredo,
Mexico, for a family reunion.

Block says five of the injured were flown to hospitals in the
Dallas area. Eight others were taken by ambulance.

i think the DPS said all were in the van. no other vehicle was mentioned. it was a rollover accident at 2AM. if the dps said he suspected the infant was not in the car seat then it may be because the infant was found outside of the vehicle or somewhere else in the vehicle other than the seat. prayers and healing thoughts should be sent to those survivors. and the emergency personnel who responded. please everyone PUT YOUR CHILD IN A SAFETY SEAT OR SEAT BELT IF OLD ENOUGH. NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU ARE GOING. ALSO PUT YOUR SEAT BELT ON. THEY DO SAVE LIVES.

Well, jump or not, on the TV this morning, the DPS trooper said all were in same van, it was not rated for the number of people in it, and he suspected the baby was not in the only carseat that was present. Sad all around.

OMG!!! How in the heck can someone assume that his baby had on no seat belt? How cruel, judgemnetal and narrowminded people can be when they are not in the same situation. The story says a family in a van over turned injuring 13 others!!! If you are so concerned in this case who don't you take the time to get a few more details before you go spouting off about a situation you obviously do not have all the details on!! This family needs nothing but empathy and prayer right now!!
