Family Fights With Police

Updated: Mon 8:53 AM, Sep 20, 2004

College Station Police had their hands full early Sunday morning when a fight between brothers turned into a scuffle between officers and five family members.

It happened about 4 a.m. at an apartment complex at the corner of Bosque and Balcones.

The call came in as a civil disturbance and when police arrived, two men who turned out to be brothers were fighting on the ground.

Police say one of the brothers ran from officers and during the confrontation, one cop was hit in the face.

Investigators say during the arrest, the others scuffled with the officers urging them not to arrest the brothers.

All five people were arrested. The most serious charges are against Ruben Quezada including assault on a public servant, resisting and evading arrest as well as a family violence charge.

His two brothers and father face charges of interference with police duties. The girlfriend to one of the brothers was also jailed on interference charges.
