Shorter Wait, Faster Speeds

Waiting on a train in College Station won't take as long as it used to.

Union Pacific officials say trains are now allowed to reach speeds up to 50 miles per hour through the A&M campus and College Station.

In the past, trains moved along the track at around 25 to 30 miles per hour.

Since June, the trains have been allowed to increase the speed because of improvements to the tracks.

Trains will still travel around 25 miles in Bryan because of a curve in the tracks.
