Once an emergency happens, it's too late to train. That's why local leaders are taking a proactive approach when it comes to dealing with disasters.
Unusual challenges that mayors and county officials might face were addressed at a seminar on emergency response and rescue training held in College Station Tuesday.
College Station Mayor Ben White hosted the Mayoral Institute Seminar presented by the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center.
“The responsibility that we, as elected officials have in times of emergency, in times of disaster is really awesome,” said College Station Mayor Ben White. “We need to know exactly what is required of us in these times when disasters do occur.”
A new joint Emergency Operation Center is being built in downtown Bryan and is expected to be completed by early next year.
