Friends and family released hundreds of balloons Saturday to remember the life of Asher Brown, 13, whose parents say was bullied at his middle school because of his religion and sexual orientation for two years before he committed suicide.
More than 250 people showed up Saturday to offer support for the family of the eighth-grader, who shot himself in the head last week.
Prosecutors said last week they plan to look into the suicide.
Family members said students made fun of the teenager because they believed he was gay, and that school officials ignored their pleas for help.
The Cypress-Fairbanks school district said it found that "some student information indicates a perception that Brown was mistreated by classmates, but those concerns were not reported."
