The Walker County Heart Walk was a huge success on Saturday, September 25.
Participants helped raise over $60,000.

The event was held Saturday morning in Huntsville. Over 100 teams walked around Bowers Stadium on Sam Houston State's campus. Organizers say it was a record turnout with about 600 walkers. The group had already surpassed the $45,000 goal days before the walk.

"They've set a standard. It's been a record breaking year for them. It's community pride and it makes the community feel good about what they've done," said Pawan Mahimtura with the American Heart Association.

The Bryan/ College Station Heart Walk will be held on October 16 at 9 a.m. at the Texas A&M's polo fields.
