Area Firefighters are having to deal with numerous Grass Fires these days. One of the latest happened on Saturday in Brazos County.

It happened around 2:00 PM on Jones Road off of FM 60 .
Crews were able to put out the flames before they spread to the nearby woods. Authorities say a burning trash barrel exploded and caused the grass fire.

"We immediately contacted Burleson County to have Snook respond with us because sometimes these things can get away from you pretty quickly and by the time we got here, before the first unit was on the scene, it was reported it was up to 7 acres," said Brazos County Assistant Fire Chief, Scott Hill.

No one was hurt and no houses in the area were damaged.
