Hospital administrators in Madison County want voters to go to the polls informed before voting on a hospital district.

Administrators have announced the dates of three new town hall meetings on the issue.

During the first public hearing on August 31, commissioners approved the petitions to place the issue before voters on the November second ballot.

The Madison County Hospital Board wants to fund a new hospital by taxing residents at least $0.10 per $100 valuation. The proposal sets a tax rate cap of $0.18.

The dates and times for the next three town hall meetings are as follows:
Sept. 28, 7 p.m. at the Kimbrough Center in Madisonville
Sept. 30, 7 p.m. at the North Zulch ISD Cafeteria in North Zulch
Oct. 5, 7 p.m. at the Midway Community Center in Midway.

Each town hall meeting will have a short presentation on what a hospital district is and how it operates.

Each meeting will be opened up to questions from the audience.
