One of the smallest members of the community of Wellborn is in need of help and on Saturday, the community came together on his behalf.
Since his birth, two-month old Hayden Hensley has been battling Spina Bifida. That is why members of the Wellborn Baptist Church, where his parents, Ryan and Johnna Hensley, attend held a "Help for Hayden" barbecue lunch fundraiser.
Folks from Wellborn and throughout the Brazos Valley came out to help raise money for growing medical bills. Ryan and Johnna have been spending most of their time in Houston with Hayden at Texas Children's Hospital.
The past couple of months have been trying for the young parents, as Hayden has had to endure six surgeries. Hayden's grandfather John Hensley was at Saturday's lunch and says the outpouring of love for the young family has made all the difference.
"The family has just been wonderful here at the church," Hensley said. "They've done great things. And for Ryan and Johnna they've been there when they've needed them."
Ryan and Johnna could not attend the benefit, but sent a message thanking the church and the community for their support of Hayden.
