Jim Mann is in stable condition at the burn unit at Galveston's UTMB, after a bizarre accident near Plantersville.
Mann and his wife noticed smoke coming out of the bed of their truck, and stopped to check it out. That's when an aerosol can exploded.
Investigators think embers from a Bar-B-Que pit heated the can and caused it to explode. Mann has 2nd degree burns on 40 percent of his body. He is expected to be released from the hospital in a week.

The bizarre accident happened on Hwy 105 near Plantersville as a couple was leaving the Renaissance Festival. They loaded up their BBQ pit, but when smoke was coming out of the bed of their pick up, the man stopped on the side of the road to see what was wrong. That's when the can exploded.
He was air lifted to Galveston's UTMB for treatment of burns and facial injuries. Investigators speculate that embers from the pit heated the can which caused the explosion.
