DALLAS (AP) - Funeral services are set this week for two children killed in a wreck as they went to visit their soldier father in the hospital.
Army officials say Fort Bliss-based specialist John Austin Johnson was waiting for his wife and three kids to visit him. But on the way to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio last week, his family's car rolled over on Interstate 10 east of Ozona.
The couple's youngest children, two-year-old Logan and five-year-old Ashley, died at the scene. Funeral services for them are set for tomorrow in Alexander, Arkansas.
Nine-year-old Tyler Johnson suffered massive head injuries and remains on life support at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. He was listed in critical but stable condition.
Authorities say Johnson's wife, Lisa, overcorrected the steering in her sport utility vehicle after encountering a blast of wind on the drive from El Paso. The car flipped four times in the gusty West Texas plains.
