Ex-Con Draws 15 Life Sentences in Grimes County

Fifteen life sentences is the punishment for an ex-con who went on a rampage through Grimes County which included kidnapping, robbery and attempted murder.

A jury in Anderson handed down its decision to Houston resident Marcus Lair, 30, Tuesday morning. Lair was found guilty Monday of 25 felony counts including breaking into a Bedias home, tying up a family of seven and stealing several items. After wrecking his getaway vehicle Lair car-jacked a motorist who had stopped to help. He was captured a short time later.

A Bedias woman travelling with Lair during the spree has not been charged.
