Undelivered Mail Raises More Questions for TYC

AUSTIN (AP) - A Texas Ranger has found two-year old undelivered mail at a juvenile lockup.

The Ranger went to the West Texas State School in Pyote after the Texas Youth Commission got a tip on an abuse hotline about old mail.

Ranger Brian Burzinski and a sheriff's office representative seized mail that had been delivered to the facility, addressed to inmates, but apparently never given to them.

The mail appears to be from about September 2005 to December 2005.

TYC spokesman Jim Hurley says he expects the inquiry to become a criminal investigation.

The school became the center of a TYC scandal in February when it was reported that officials ignored signs of sexual abuse of some inmates.

TYC has since undergone restructuring.
