Hearne's city council is sending the message that using a city credit card for personal use will no longer be tolerated.
Four city employees were fired last month for credit card abuse. Now the council decided that all city employees must go through the city manager before any purchases can be made. They have also requested a fraud audit of the city's finances for the past five years.
Mayor Ruben Gomez was also under investigation for credit card abuse, but has been cleared.
