A couple of flying enthusiasts took a wild ride in a private plane, and they didn't even leave the ground.

Saturday morning, two men were taxiing their plane at the Hearne Municipal Airport when a gust of wind sent them off the runway. The plane flipped once and came to rest in a grassy area between runways on its top, and its nose in a hay bale.

No one was at the airport at the time of the accident. One of the two men in the plane had a cell phone and called 911. Within five minutes, emergency crews had arrived on the scene. Both men had already exited the plane and were walking around when authorities arrived.

The two were transported to St. Joseph as a precaution, but officials on the scene described their injuries as bumps, bruises, and bloody noses.

Police also said the FAA would look into the incident.
