Federal inspectors need to improve their detection equipment and search procedures to prevent terrorists from smuggling weapons of mass destruction into U.S. ports.
That's the word from the Homeland Security Department's independent investigator. In a report to be released today, the department's inspector says the U.S. Customs and Border Protection has made security changes and has others planned.
