This month's fighting in and around Fallujah has exacted an unusually heavy toll on Texas troops.
The Pentagon says at least 71 U-S soldiers and Marines have died
in combat in the Iraqi province that includes Fallujah since November Eighth. That's when U-S-led forces began their successful offensive to subdue the insurgent stronghold.
Ten of those killed in Al Anbar Province this month were from Texas -- a casualty rate that far surpasses the state's already heavy share of military deaths in the Iraq war.
