President Bush is keeping close to home this Thanksgiving holiday -- a far cry from last year's surprise visit to Baghdad.

Bush is spending the day at his Texas ranch, where his family dined on leftovers from yesterday's lunch with Spain's king and queen.

Last Thanksgiving, Bush left his family behind and slipped away unannounced to visit troops in Iraq. With that in mind, aides and journalists spent today anxiously checking pagers and cell phones
for a similar surprise.

A spokesman said the president did make holiday phone calls to members of the military stationed around the globe, and thanked them for their "service and sacrifice."

The president and his family also marked another occasion today, as twin daughters Jenna and Barbara celebrated their 23rd birthdays.
