New York real estate heir Robert Durst went right from a Galveston jail into federal custody.

Durst faces transfer to Pennsylvania on 2001 gun charges, over an indictment returned Thursday. When Durst was arrested near Bethlehem,
Pennsylvania, police seized his rental car and inside it found two revolvers, a speed loader and 86 rounds of ammunition.

Durst is at a detention center in Houston, awaiting transfer to Pennsylvania.

Durst attorney Dick DeGuerin says the action is quote: "vindictive malicious prosecution."

Durst was acquitted last November of intentionally killing a neighbor in Galveston in 2001. Durst was arrested, fled -- and weeks later was caught in Pennsylvania.

Durst last month pleaded guilty to bond jumping and evidence tampering, in exchange for a five-year sentence.

Credit for time served made Durst eligible for parole.
