Neighbors Speak Out About Fire Station in Their Backyard

Residents were speaking out at Thursday night's council meeting worried their neighborhood could turn into a busy street.

A petition was given to council for the city to look for another place for a new fire station. Home owners in the Shenandoah area say when the survey was done to find a location...they were not contacted.

Right now the station is currently along the bypass near Greens Prairie Road. Despite the reason of being moved these neighbors are worried what the station could do to their property values .

One resident, Jen Nixon says, "We didn't buy these homes to move. We buy them to live in and raise a family. But many of us will leave because of the effective noise."

Even though the city couldn't comment to the issue, because it was during public comment...Mayor pro tem, Dennis Maloney said they would discuss it in Executive Session.
