Police still don't know what caused the fatal accident in West Brazos County Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at the intersection of N. Harvey Mitchell Parkway and Leonard Road.

According to reports, Roger Lee Cox, 51, was traveling south on Harvey Mitchell when his car, a Kia Sportage, veered left across the oncoming lanes of traffic, and into the ditch where the vehicle continued to travel south.

Cox's car struck a white Chevrolet Suburban stopped at the light at Leonard Road.
The driver of the Suburban and her two children were not injured.

Cox was transported to St. Joseph Regional Health Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Bryan Police Department Traffic Safety Unit will be reconstructing the accident in attempt to determine what factors led to the collision, while Detectives interview witnesses and investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.

Anyone that may have witnessed the accident is encouraged to call the Bryan Police Department at 209-5301 to give a statement to a detective.
