Nearly thirty acres of land was destroyed in Robertson County after a brush fire Tuesday morning.

It happened on FM 1940, five miles south of New Baden around 11 o'clock.

Every fire department in Robertson County responded, including Franklin, Easterly, Hearne, Blackjack, and Bremond.

Franklin fire chief Bill Huggins says a man was burning brush to clear a fence line when it got out of control, burning the land and his car.

It took firefighters about an hour to get the brush fire under control.
