A Montgomery County constable deputy has been reprimanded for leaving a loaded gun in a rental car he had driven.

The gun was discovered in the car's console by a Conroe couple as they cleaned out the vehicle after they had driven it for nearly one week.

The Conroe Courier reports the revolver belongs to Sergeant Bryan DuBose, who had apparently taken the off-duty weapon out of a fanny pack where it was kept.

The couple who found the gun this week, Faron and Melissa Young, were refunded their rental fees and given an apology.

Melissa Young and a group of co-workers had driven the car to New Orleans for a seminar.

DuBose was reprimanded for the incident, but won't face charges.
