The 9th annual KBTX Food for Families Food Drive was a success.
The drive raised $40,864 and 239,435 pounds of food.
136,577 pounds were donated by area residents, while 102,858 pounds were given by local grocers.
The food drive is a daylong event that collects non-perishable food items and paper goods for the Brazos Food Bank; a non-profit organization "seeking to eliminate hunger by the distribution of food and grocery products through a network of nonprofit organization while providing education and community awareness on issues of hunger." The event ran Wednesday, December 15, from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Brazos Center.

The 8th annual Food for Families Food Drive raised over $41,000 and 201,000 pounds of food. Entertainment ranged from area high school and jr. high school bands, choirs, orchestra groups, and area dance groups.
