Just before 5 p.m. Friday, the 420th Engineering Brigade, a Bryan-based U.S. Army Reserve unit, landed on American soil following a year long duty in Iraq.

Soldiers were greeted by their family Friday evening at Fort Hood and will go through a four to five-day demobilization process. Nearly 60 of the 98 members are from Brazos County, and will be heading back home by bus on Wednesday.

The entire community is encouraged to line Texas Avenue and display their patriotism and appreciation to our local soldiers.

The bus is scheduled to begin its route at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the College Station Wal-Mart, traveling north to Carson Street in Bryan.

Then, Thursday at 9 a.m., a ceremony will be held to honor the members at the VFW at 794 N. Harvey Mitchell Parkway on FM 2818.
