A drinking ordinance on Northgate could be just a month away.

College Station Police Officers have been listening to concerns from business owners and Northgate patrons about banning open containers.

They plan to present the council with their findings by late January.

At that time the council could pass an ordinance that would prohibit kegs and open containers on the Northgate Promenade.

Police say the possible ordinance has come about because of public safety concerns but business owners have concerns of their own.

Several business owners didn't want to speak on camera but aren't sure an ordinance will even pass.

The Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission has also approved a possible ordinance.
