A bizarre accident has left a Millican man in serious condition.
It happened about 8 a.m. Monday in the 4200 block of South Highway 6 between the Peach Creek Cutoff and William Fitch Parkway.
Police say a Cadillac was headed south on Highway 6 when it lost a tire because of a mechanical malfunction. The tire bounced across the highway and hit a Mazda Miata travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Miata, Howard Mooney of Millican, was taken to the College Station Medical Center.
The driver of the Cadillac was not injured.
No charges have been filed at this time, but police say the case remains under investigation.
The northbound lanes were closed for about three hours while the accident was cleaned up and investigated.
